[Contents] In the 1980s, "kaido racer" style became a boom among car-loving Japanese youth—a modification style imitating race cars. In particular, the look of bolt-on overfenders covering the wide slick tires that race cars used for better grip became an object of admiration, and illegal imitation modified cars in this style began appearing all over the country.
It was Liberty Walk, based in Aichi Prefecture, that revived this kaido racer style by combining it with modern supercars.
This Hot Wheels model depicts the personal car of the company's representative, Wataru Kato, which recreates the origin of Liberty Walk's kaido racer style—a 4th-generation Skyline, commonly known as the "Kenmeri"—arranged in the tall, exaggerated deformed style often seen in 1980s Japanese plastic model kits.
Despite its comical look, the car faithfully reproduces details of the real vehicle, such as the square, slanted headlights, dummy oil cooler, and the removed rear bumper with round taillights reduced from four to two lights, commonly known as "one-tail."
