[Contents] The 5th-generation Silvia (S13), introduced in 1988, shares its basic components with its sister car—but the 180SX, which debuted in 1989, was given a dedicated front mask with pop-up headlights and a hatchback rear body.

The 180SX continued production with basically no major changes from 1993, when its sister car the Silvia switched to the 6th generation (S14), until 1999, as it was about to transition to the 7th generation.
Among the early, mid, and late versions of the 180SX, Hot Wheels chose as its subject the late version seen in the background of a parking lot scene in "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift," the 3rd installment of the Fast & Furious series.
