●USS George Washington, CVN-73, is a United States Navy aircraft carrier homeported at the US Navy's Yokosuka base. The ship is named after the first President of the United States, George Washington.
It was the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier deployed to Japan. It returned to the United States in 2015, and after modernization refits, it re-entered service at Yokosuka base on November 22, 2024.
Its total length is 333m, the same as the height of Tokyo Tower, its maximum beam is 76.8m, and it has a total crew of approximately 5,700.
It was commissioned on July 4, 1992, the 216th Independence Day of the United States, with its original homeport in Norfolk, Virginia.
