[Contents] In the 1980s, the “kaido racer” style—a modified-car look inspired by race cars—became popular among young Japanese car enthusiasts. In particular, powerful race cars needed to put their power reliably to the road, and the wide slick tires fitted to improve grip protruded beyond the body. The cars were therefore fitted with bolt-on overfenders to cover the tires. This look became an object of admiration, and illegally modified cars imitating it began appearing across the country. Liberty Walk, based in Aichi Prefecture, revived this now-defunct kaido racer style by combining it with modern supercars.
This Hot Wheels model is based on the personal car of company representative Wataru Kato, recreating the roots of Liberty Walk’s kaido racer style: an 4th-generation Skyline, commonly known as the “Kenmeri.”
It faithfully reproduces the real car’s many distinctive features, including its square, slanted headlights, dummy oil cooler, and removed rear bumper, along with its round taillights reduced from four to two—a look commonly known as “one-tail.”
[Country of Origin] Malaysia
[Recommended Age] 3 years and up
[Note] The back of the blister card has Japanese packaging.
[Perfect for Gifts] A great gift for birthdays, Christmas, entrance and graduation celebrations, and other special occasions.
[Hot Wheels] Hot Wheels means “cool cars!” They feature a distinctive Southern California-inspired look, fast-spinning wheels (cutting-edge technology at the time!), and tires with a red racing stripe. Hot Wheels is currently the world’s best-selling die-cast car brand.
