[Contents] In the 1980s, "kaido racer" style became a boom among car-loving Japanese youth—a modification style imitating race cars. In particular, as power-upped race cars needed to reliably transfer that power to the road, the wide slick tires they used for improved grip stuck out beyond the body, so bolt-on overfenders were fitted to cover them—a look that became an object of admiration, and illegal imitation modified cars in this style began appearing all over the country. It was Liberty Walk, based in Aichi Prefecture, that revived this now-bygone kaido racer style by combining it with modern supercars.
This Hot Wheels model is based on the personal car of the company's representative, Wataru Kato, which recreates the origin of Liberty Walk's kaido racer style—a 4th-generation Skyline, commonly known as the "Kenmeri."
It faithfully traces the real car's many distinctive features, including the square, slanted headlights, dummy oil cooler, and the removed rear bumper with round taillights reduced from four to two lights, commonly known as "one-tail."
